Obituary of E. Eugene Legge

The death of E. Eugene Legge of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Laverne (Bishop) Legge, occurred on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jeffrey's, NL, Dec. 2, 1942, son of Annie (Hulan) Legge and the late Emmanuel Legge. Eugene was employed as a Millwright at the Sugar Refinery and for 32 years with Irving Paper. He served with the Armed Forces in the Military Police, including a Peacekeeping tour in Cyprus. Eugene was a member of the Masonic Luxor Temple and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 58. He enjoyed watching his grandson Christopher perform in plays, golfing with his grandson Jeremy, fishing, hunting, dancing and camping at the Mic Mac Trailer Park. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by daughter Gena (Brian) Fowler of Hampton, son John Legge (Terri) of Dartmouth, two grandchildren Christopher Fowler of Toronto, Jeremy Fowler of Hampton, four brothers Harry (Sheila) of Port aux Basque, David (Elsie) of St. John's, Gus (Greta) of Jeffrey's, NL, Roland (Connie) of Moncton, sisters Vene (Joe) Curnew, Sandra (Martin) Benoit, Dot (Gordon) Hounsell all of Jeffrey's, NL, mother-in-law Valerie Bishop of Chipman, brothers-in-law Gary Compton of Labrador City, Ned (Heather) Bishop of Chipman, KJ (Anna) Bishop of Fredericton, sisters-in-law Joey (Harry) Niles of Fredericton, Rubye (Paul) Leger of Rothesay, several nieces and nephews. Besides his father he was predeceased by one son Emanuel, one sister Colleen and father-in-law G. Russell Bishop. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Gondola Point on Thursday at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Luke's Anglican Church Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a veteran service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm and a Masonic service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
