Obituary of John Robert Wilson
John Robert Wilson of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 77 on July 5, 2013 from a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on January 8, 1936. John worked on the railroad for several years before marrying in 1969. He and his wife Belle Heather Wilson (Ely) moved to Scarborough, Ontario for 10 years before returning to Saint John. John was an active house painter for many years, and he worked very hard to support his family. In his free time, he loved to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play ball, have picnics with his family, play with his granddaughter Jenna, and socialize with his neighbours. He loved trains, boats, and history. He doted on his dog Mandy, walking her several times a day and spoiling her with treats and cuddles. John is survived by his daughter, Wendolyn (Wendy) Louise Tarrel (Wilson), his son-in-law, John Tarrel, and his granddaughter, Jenna Rose Tarrel, all of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Mowbray (Wilson) and Barbara McAughey (Wilson), brothers, James and George Wilson, and several nieces and nephews. His death was preceded by his wife, his daughter, Deborah Ann Wilson, his parents, Harold and Olive Wilson, his brothers, Arthur and Charles Wilson, and his sister, Olive Gogan (Wilson). Relatives and friends are welcome at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or organization of the donor’s choice.
