Obituary of Ann Frances Delano
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the death on July 27, 2013 of Ann Delano from post-surgical complications at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS at the age of 67. Ann is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Gerry; adored daughters: Jo-elle Nordstrom (Dave Sullivan) and Jill Delano (Jen Floyd); brother, Frank Kilravey (Mary Ann); nephews: Matthew and Lucas Kilravey; maternal aunt, Noreen Palmer and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Margaret "Peggy" (Garvin) Kilravey. Born in Toronto, ON on February 23, 1946, as a child, Ann moved to Saint John where she graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1964. She graduated from Teacher’s College and entered the teaching profession with positions at Centennial School and Holy Trinity School. Throughout her working career, Ann earned her Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education Degrees. With the birth of her daughters, Ann left the workforce to be a full time mother. She returned to work by operating her own kindergarten and eventually moved to real estate. She then returned to her first love, teaching, from which she retired in 2007. Ann will be missed by all who knew her. She was a compassionate, sincere and gracious lady. Ann lived for her family and friends, she was happiest when entertaining on birthdays and festive occasions. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Cancer Society, MS Society or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
