Obituary of Victor Earl Oldfield
With his family at his side the death of Victor Oldfield, husband of Doreen (Belyea) Oldfield occurred at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was born on May 24, 1922 in Saint John to the late Waldo and Seneath (Perry) Oldfield. Victor was a veteran of World War II served with the Canadian Army overseas as a tank operator. He worked for TS Simms Ltd and for Canada Post during his working career. In his spare time, Victor enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing; he even built his own home. Besides Doreen his loving wife of over 58 years; Victor is survived by his sons: William "Billy" (Marilyn) of Calgary, AB; Richard "Rick" (Beth) of Ajax, ON and Gordon "Gord" (Jane) of Saint John; sisters: Evelyn Curren (Robert) and Lorna Wilson (Bruce); grandchildren: Brett, Michael, Drake and Stacie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Berton, Raymond, Penny and Waldo and sisters: Audrey, Nina and Ella. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing for the exceptional care and compassion they gave to Victor. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held during visiting on Monday starting at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing would be appreciated by the family.
