Obituary of Sheila Hugh Mackay
The death of Sheila Mackay daughter of Hugh Hazen Mackay and Geraldine Mackay (Hanson), sister of Charles Mackay and Frances Simson occurred on Thursday September 2, 2004. Born in Saint John N.B., she grew up in Toronto. Sheila attended schools in Toronto, Rothesay (Netherwood) and McGill University. Having finished her studies she worked in London England (J. Walter Thompson) and in Toronto, Advertising, Marketing and Financial Management. She returned to New Brunswick because of her health and to be close to her family. Sheila divided her time between Rothesay and St. Martins. She enjoyed reading, sewing and travel. Sheila made a significant contribution to the arts in New Brunswick with the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation and Strathbutler Awards. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24th, 2004 from St. Paul's Church Rothesay at 4:00 pm with Archdeacon Richard McConnell officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Box 101, Gagetown, N.B. E5M 2W4. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
