Obituary of Bernie Flavin
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Bernard Flavin, which occurred on May 10, 2014. He was born on August 21, 1937 in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Leo and Hazel (Worth) Flavin. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty (Grant) Flavin; children: Brian (Mandy), Bruce (Dakota), Kathy McGraw (Darren), Sheila Green, Patsy Flavin (Graham), Larry (Francine), and Lorna O’Brien (Joe); 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; brother, Kenny Flavin (Mary); sisters: Alice Smith of Saint John, Shirley Fraser (Reg) of Nova Scotia, Dorothy Ireland (Gordon) of Ontario, Mary Bowman (Francis) of Nova Scotia, and Sheila Flavin of Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James Barry Flavin; son-in-law, Joe Green; sisters: Kay Ladaucer, Eileen Garvie, and Helen Boyle; and brothers: Don and Brian Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424, with visiting on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
