Obituary of Ret'd Robert David Taylor
Ret’d Lt Robert David Taylor – It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Robert Taylor, beloved husband of the late Muriel (Fanjoy) Taylor, announce his passing on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on December 10, 1924 he was a son of the late Robert and Florence (Patey) Taylor. Robert was a home handy-man, particularly excelling in carpentry. He could fix just about anything. He was also a loving family man who enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. In his early years, he displayed his variety of skills at various jobs such as Willett Fruit, Longshore and Scovil’s Transfer. He was one of the treasured volunteers who drove the Cerebral Palsy bus as a service to those in need. Robert was a proud firefighter in the city of Saint John for 27 years, retiring in 1981. He was lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy 33 years of retirement to spend time with family, relax, and watch war and western movies. He will be missed by his children David Taylor (the late Cora) of Fredericton, Nancy Lisson (Greg) of Quispamsis, John Taylor (Mary) of Quispamsis, Dorothy Waddell (Arthur), Donald Taylor (Lorna) of Saint John and Joan Kinney (Carl) of Saint John; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 12:00 pm with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
