Obituary of Grace Lawson
Grace Rosella Gertrude (Oakley) Lawson, wife of the late Gerald Earle Lawson, died on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at her residence in the Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born August 29, 1932 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Ida Louise (Johnson) Melvin. Surviving are her son, William "Earle" Lawson (Margo); three daughters: Ann McGee (Stephen Ramsey), Susan Wilkins (Gary), and Janet Baker (John); and 8 grandchildren. Besides her mother and husband Gerald, she was predeceased by her brother, William Oakley and her sister, Margaret Steeves. Grace loved to spend time reading, surfing the ‘net and being with friends especially Liz Janes, who she knew from childhood, and her special friends from Carleton Kirk – Phyllis, Vivian and Nancy. She especially enjoyed her lengthy conversations with her children, grandchildren and with Lisa, her niece. She loved to play cards and Bingo, joke with the staff and go on outings. She was full of life and love for the people around her. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). At Grace’s request there will be no visiting or funeral service. The family will have a private Celebration of Grace’s life at a later date. Remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com. Donations may be placed to The Breast Cancer Society of Canada.
