Sorry to hear of his passing, I was just talking to him recently - and he was typical Jim - looking forward to going to the drag strip this summer and planning to work on his truck,,, he was a wealth of information and very talented with any thing mechanical, I enjoyed the time we spent together- He valued his friends and family, he certainly will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I remember Jim in the early 70’s organizing Saturday coffee house’s in the fairville mall to keep young people off the streets. In those days he had a passion for helping young people. He also had a love for motorcycles and could be seen on the west side riding an orange Kawasaki. I cannot recall if it was s 500cc or 900 cc but at the time it was one of a kind. In the early years Jim was a renaissance man. I met up with Jim about 15 years ago when he was considering buying an ultralight airplane from a friend if mine. It turned out to be an adventurous experience. When I think of Jim I will remember him for his adventurous spirit but also for his caring nature. For Jims three daughters: Jim has quietly directly and indirectly positively influenced many people. Please accept my sincere condolences to each of you. Sincerely , Bob Creamer.

I grew up with Jimmy in Fairville. We worked together at Howland Sport and Marine , and Bill English Arctic Cat. Jim was always tinkering with engines to get every last horse power he could. The list of crazy things Jimmy did with motorized machines is far to great to list here. Rest In Peace Jimmy. Wheelie on into eternity old friend. Pete Fox

I was remising about my brother-in-law Harry James (Jim) Tippett.
In his early life he was that thrill seeker – working on cars, motorcycles, boats – whatever there was that was mechanical, and he could get his hands on. He had an exciting and eventful career in the boating industry and was a Master Mechanic and awarded many certificates through Mercury Marine. There were many trips to Florida which involved bringing back boats for friends and his customers.
Summertime was a time for fun in the sun, and he so enjoyed having “His Girls” involved in the business, along with the many local Boat Shows that he was in attendance of as a dealer for Mercury Marine and various boat dealers.
Jimmy taught us anything we wanted to know about boats, water-skiing, and there were lots of tubing days too. We would all meet up along the river, and tie along side each other to enjoy those beautiful days. He taught most of us how to drive vehicles with the boats on trailers, backing them into the water to offload, to loading them up again.
His soul is free now and the suffering and pain has drifted away. The Jimmy we knew and let into our lives is now able to rest. Cruise on down the line – still waters ahead.

I have so many great memories, having grown up next door to my cousins Jimmy in the house on the corner of Birch and the Calhouns, we were a pretty tight knit group of youngsters.
He was most definitely a thrill seeker and always promised to go slow when I went for a ride on one his bikes but never did.
He loved his daughters and would do anything for them. Always the fun dad.
Sending Janyce Heather Melissa and the boys my deepest condolences. ❤️
