It was a pleasure to work with DeeDee in the Physiotherapy department at St. Joseph’s. She was a great co-worker and friend. Although I was several years younger, I had to practically run to keep up with her when I walked to the market with her at lunch so she could buy fish. I enjoyed skiing with her too. My condolences to her family.

Deedee and Roger were both so welcoming to Ed and I when we joined the K Park couples Bridge club. They were good bridge players and wonderful conversationalists. We were honoured to have known them both. Their love for each other was so obvious and special to behold. So sorry that Deedee has died. Our condolences to the family as they deal with this sad loss.

The boards of both Symphony New Brunswick and Symphony New Brunswick Foundation express sympathy on DeeDee's loss. She and Roger were steadfast Symphony supporters and I personally enjoyed meeting and chatting with her and Roger after the concerts. DeeDee also had deeper connections with orchestral music in New Brunswick, both as a volunteer and through her mother who was the last president of the Ladies Morning Musical Club, an organization which played a role in founding the original Saint John Symphony in 1950. DeeDee and Roger will be long-remembered by all those who are involved in the affairs of SNB.

I have very fond memories of DeeDee, both as a child, loving her Morris Minor convertible, having her live at our house and be a big sister to all four Smith kids and always having an open door and fresh tea during my first year teaching.. I have enjoyed watching their kids grow up, taught by the best to become responsible, empathetic adults.
She will be missed. My condolences to you all.

Deedee was a lovely lady who seemed all about the business at hand which was always accompanied with an easy laugh, and encouraging words. Deedee set a wonderful example to the younger generation as she was eager to try just about anything and continued with athletic endeavours well beyond the years one would normally expect. Deedee was a thoughtful and kind volunteer and friend to others. Love to the Aske family

Grandmothers are special people, and we’re so blessed to have had Nannie.
Nannie knew what every grandkid did and what every grandkid liked. You could count on her to have up-to-date pictures of everyone on the fridge and she’d tell you about each kid’s hockey/skiing/school/musical talents as you went for a cookie.
An adept seamstress, Nannie sewed me baby blankets and clothes for my dolls and stuffed animals - including articles I’m thankful to still have. When I was older she took me on trips to Fabricville and taught me how to sew aprons and potholders and a Christmas stocking that was bigger than Tim’s.
At the Belleisle, you could count on Nannie to invite you for a 7 am dip, find fiddleheads and/or blueberries, update the journal, and remind us at dessert that if you only ate the icing, you were missing the best part of the cake.
I’ll always be grateful for the Saturdays she took me to Poley, and all the weeks she drove me back to school after early-morning synchro practice (always arriving with the heated seat on and asking “did you get your feet off the bottom yet?”).
Calm in any situation, Nannie bravely served as the licenced passenger needed in the vehicle when Tim and I started to learn to drive.
She knew I loved mashed potatoes and gravy, and her homemade cheese sauce on broccoli, which she served at many Sunday dinners and holiday meals at Crescent drive
(even though granddad consistently noted broccoli was bad for his blood thinners).
She loved a short phone call and was good to sit with on a sad day.
I’m so grateful to have had her in my life, and am so grateful she’s now at peace with Grandad, Dad, and hopefully Chippy the dog.
Ski a run for me Nan,
Xoxoxoxo

Dear Karen, Janet and Robert. I was so saddened to see Deedee's obituary tonight. As you know, she and Roger were great friends of Harry's and were so kind and gracious when I was added to the group. I have so many memories of time spent with them and their friends on the Bellisle and in the Park and also down at Bocabec with Roger and Harry showing their cooking prowess.
It was easy to see and feel the love and respect between Roger and DeeDee. And they could match each other in their verbal exchanges with their wits. It was fun to listen to.
DeeDee was always happy and energetic and her happiness was infectious. Even though she had some difficult times, she remained pleasant. A fabulous person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her
. But most of all she will be missed and lovingly remembered by you and her beloved grandchildren.
My condolences to each of you and your families.
