Obituary of Mary-Lee Johnston
It is with saddened hearts that we inform you that Mary-Lee Johnston passed away at Rocumaura Nursing Home on August 16, 2022. She was born August 17, 1940, in Dorchester, N.B. to the late Dorothy (Whalen) Anderson and worked as a Telephone Operator for NBTel, retiring after 30 years.
Mary-Lee married the love of her life, the late Ronald Johnston, on September 7, 1963, and they spent 49 wonderful years together, travelling and spending time with family and friends. She had a busy social life and attended both Fire Department and Military functions with Ron, as well as her weekly card games with her beloved aunts, Eileen, and Eleanor. She was an avid reader and shopper who enjoyed both going out to eat as well as ordering in.
Mary-Lee is survived by her children: daughter, Lee-Ann and son, Stephen(Lorrie); grandchildren, Drew and Demi; sister, Ann (Bobby); brother, John (Barb); brother-in-law, Mel (Donna); several nieces, nephews, Godchildren; special cousins, Eleanor (John-deceased) and Ruth (David); as well as many lifelong friends.
Her family wishes to thank the Staff and Volunteers of Rocmaura Nursing Home (Terrace Court) for their compassionate care.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). As per Mary-Lee’s wishes there will be no visiting or service. A private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Rocmaura Foundation or Romero House.
