Obituary of Doreen Helen Irving

It is with appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Doreen Irving of Saint John, wife of the late Joseph Paul Irving Sr., announce her sudden passing which occurred on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born on May 21, 1936 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Kathleen (McLeod) Byers.

In her younger years, Doreen enjoyed dancing and more recently she acquired a love for singing karaoke.  Doreen also enjoyed the water and loved to swim.  Most of all, she loved her family and had devoted her life to caring for their needs.  She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. 

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joseph Irving Jr., Stacey Irving, Kathaleen Irving, Areatha Bridges (Glen), Reid Irving and Matthew Irving.  She is also survived by her siblings, Donald Byers, Gordie Byers, Peter Byers, Jeff Byers and Margaret Byers; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and niece, Shelly Owens.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Paula Robichaud and brother, Lawrence “Sony” Byers.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, a private celebration of Doreen’s life will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
