Visitation
Obituary of Velma Winsor
It is with deep sadness and profound appreciation for a life well-lived, that the family of Velma Gertrude Winsor announces that she passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, NB, at 91 years of age.
Born in Carmanville, Newfoundland and Labrador, on January 17, 1931, to Fred and Patience Hicks, Velma’s path led her to become a loving wife, mother, nana, friend, nurse, teacher, volunteer, avid gardener and card player. Indeed, a life well-lived. She will be remembered dearly.
Velma was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Keith MacMillan Winsor; brothers, Eugene and Bert Hicks; and sisters, Belle McDonald (Donald) and Grace Gillingham (Raymond).
She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Bonner (Brian); son, John (Linda); and grandchildren: Patrick Bonner, Katie Bonner, Colin Bonner, Mike Winsor, and Greg Winsor; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Velma’s family would like to give thanks to the wonderful, caring staff of Jubilee, Concorde and Embassy Halls.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 4 to 6 pm. A private family graveside service will take place on Monday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or any other charitable organization. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
