Obituary of Bonnie Marie Collins

It is with broken hearts that the family of Bonnie Marie (Hovey) Collins announce her passing at the age of 78 on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Bobby's Hospice after a brave battle with cancer.

Born in Saint John, NB to Wilbur Percy Hovey and Myrna Mae (Fisher) Hovey, she was the second born of three sisters, Doreen Leblanc (Bernard) of Montreal and Sharon Dean (Doug) of St. Martins.  Bonnie was predeceased by her soulmate and loving husband, Floyd Arlen Collins (Pleasant Valley, NS).

Besides enjoying time with family, Bonnie spent many hours in her younger years working in her flower and vegetable gardens.  She also enjoyed baking, drawing, painting, sewing and being creative in general.  Her working years included time at T.S. Simms Brush Factory, babysitting a number of youngsters who became extended family members, as well as many years as head cook for the Boys and Girls Club hot lunch program.

Bonnie is survived by her four children, Garnett Collins (Anita Goguen), Cathy Collins, Laurie Collins (Sandra McGowan) and Linda Goguen (Tony).  She also leaves behind her much-loved grandchildren, Dave Goguen (Angela), Megan Goguen (Chris Arsenault), Josh Collins (Arielle), Tony Goguen Jr. and Tiffany Goguen (Kyle Quinlan); great-grandchildren, Ben, Ava, Reed, Cali, Carter, Lincoln, Denver, Eliott, Ashlyn, Alexis and Abby; as well as her precious Shih Tzu, Patches.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bobby's Hospice for their outstanding comfort and care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 21, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, September 22, at 12:00 PM and will be followed by the interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, 1650 Manawagonish Road.

Remembrances can be made to Bobby's Hospice, Big Brothers Big Sisters or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
