Obituary of Geraldine Mabel Cruickshank

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Geraldine “Geri” Cruickshank (Daley) of Rothesay, NB, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on October 27, 2022, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John G. Lewis and Rhoda Lewis (Steen) of Saint John, NB.

Born in 1939, she was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School. She worked for several years at Green’s Restaurant, Battery and Electric, George Hamilton and Sons, and retired after over 22 years as a school secretary for Harry Miller Junior High School. In recent years, she was affiliated with the St. James the Less Anglican Church in Rothesay.

In younger years, Geri enjoyed time spent with family and friends at her camp on Hunter Lake. She always loved a good game of cards and doing ceramics. She was an avid Bridge player, and she played at the Bill McGuire Centre and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She loved long drives, with stops at local coffee shops with her husband, Les.

Geri is survived by her son, Marty (Karen) Daley of Quispamsis; grandchildren: Ashley (Matthew) Creamer, Courtney (Lucas) Roderick, Luke (Shannon) Daley, and Brittany (Chris) Mason all of Quispamsis, Thomas (Madeleine McPhail) Daley of Halifax, and Patrick Daley of Fredericton; step-daughters: Carrie Cruickshank of Saint John, Nicole (Huey) Lord of Rothesay, and Jodi (Doug) Olichny of Calgary; five great-grandsons: Ryker, Levi, Grey, Jack, and Brooks; brother, Eugene (Kathryn) Lewis of Fredericton; as well as 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and 6 step-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Geri was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Cruickshank; son, David Daley of Fredericton; sister, Florence Waterall of Nerepis; and Larry Daley, the father of her children.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at St. James the Less Anglican Church, Rothesay, NB, on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 1 pm. Interment will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
