Obituary of Elizabeth "Bette" Whittaker

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth “Bette” Winnifred (Ryan) Whittaker announces her passing which occurred on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 17, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Winnifred (Betteridge) Ryan.

Bette is survived by her loving children, Larry (Debra), Linda, Flo, Peggy (John), Wendy (Mike), John, Ken (Nancy); sister, Margaret; brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Eleanor; 16 grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Bette was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, David Allan; her oldest daughter, Patricia; sisters Elsie and Vera; brother, Jackie; baby Gertrude.

Bette was a long-time resident of Holderville and was a member of The St. Albans Guild - Friendly Quilters, ACW Grand Bay Westfield, Peninsula 62 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to quilt, play bingo, knit and was an avid bowler and snowmobiler. She also loved dancing at Jones Creek and KBM.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Kennebec Manor for their care and support.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). With visitation on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, November 7, 2022, beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Harding’s Point Cemetery (Kingston, NB).
