Obituary of Lorna Margaret Ellis
It is with an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Lorna Ellis of Saint John, cherished wife of David Ellis, announce her passing which occurred on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Saint John on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Hazel (Fulton) Buckley.
Lorna was a graduate of Saint John High School. She started her working career with the Royal Bank (Lansdowne Branch) and was the first female to work her way up through the ranks in Accounting. Once the children arrived, she devoted her life to caring for their needs and to raising her young family. Eventually returning to the workforce, Lorna was employed with Bill Harrington, an independent agent, with Esso. When the independent agents were no longer, she went on to work for Esso Home Comfort and retired after many years with Park Fuels. Lorna was a woman of great faith, one who was actively involved with Silver Falls United Church and was a lifetime member of the UCW. The friendships she made in her UCW group are everlasting. Together with David, Lorna enjoyed travelling and many years wintering in Florida. She was skilled at crocheting, knitting, crafts and was famous for making her scrubbies. Lorna enjoyed making cards for all occasions and was often referred to as a professional shopper. Lorna’s favourite place in the whole world was sitting on her deck, looking out at the beautiful Belleisle Bay watching her children and grandchildren play in the water, or sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows and sharing stories and good conversation.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, David, Lorna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Heather McNally (Wayne), Andrew Ellis (Jennifer) and Darren Ellis (Michelle); grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney), Meaghan, Alex (Shelby), Sarah, Nick, Gregory and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Lily, Jane, Claire and Hayden; niece, Kim Harley and great-nephew, Ryan Harley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Eldon Buckley and in-laws, Alister and Minnie Ellis.
