Obituary of Gerry Collrin
With heavy hearts, the family of Geraldine “Gerry” Collrin (Bowes) announce her passing on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 25, 1936 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Eleanor (Shannon) and Wilfred Bowes, and wife of the late Leroy Collrin.
Thank-you to the nurses in the emergency at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their excellent care of mom and the compassion they showed her and our family. Also we would like to thank mom’s doctor Luan Le for his care of mom.
Mom grew up in the North end of the city and spent a lot of her time playing ball and going to dances. She met the love of her life, Leroy, and raised six children together.
Christmas was mom’s favorite time of the year and the house was fully decorated, including the doorknobs.
Mom was a very giving person and loved to share many of her homemade gifts. It didn’t matter what you made nanny or mom; she kept it (macaroni glued to a paper plate or ribbon with sparkle on it, 30 plus years later she still had it AND you are getting it back). We will miss our strong-willed mama, but we know she is dancing with dad and having tea with her family.
Gerry is survived by her children: Ken Collrin (Maureen), Debbie MacLean (Lennus), Diana Melvin (Ross), Linda Campbell (Brian), Doreen Page (David), and Patsy Robison (Darren); 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friend, Alice LeBlanc; 1 sister-in-law; and three nieces and one nephew.
Besides her parents and her husband, Leroy, she was predeceased by her grandsons, Jeret and Ryan Melvin; sister, Frances; and brothers, Ken and Ron.
