Obituary of Rose Donovan
Our beautiful mother, Rose, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, to be reunited with her husband, Bill Sr., son Billy Jr., her parents, and siblings. Rose passed peacefully in Heather's arms. Born in Saint John, NB on September 8th, 1940, to the late Agnes Irene (Craft) and John Arthur Whittaker.
Rose was an exceptional athlete excelling at basketball and curling and had a love for her daily golf games. Rose was a member of Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club and the Hampton Golf Club.
In her later years she developed a love for travel, visiting numerous destinations, including New Zealand which was her favourite.
Rose is survived by daughters, Kimberly Ann of Mississauga, ON, Heather Christine (Dave Johnson) of Saint John and son, Kevin Wayne of Saint John, grandchildren, Adam Donovan, Rachel (Joe Colwell), Vanessa (Scott McLeod) and 3 great grandsons, Rylan and Kessler Colwell and Donovan McLeod. She is also survived by sisters, Judy Cormier (John) and Charlene McGraw (Eldon) all of Saint John, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her youngest son, Bill Jr. and husband Bill Sr.
The family would like the extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wilson and the nurses and staff of the 5th Floor Cam Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). With visitation on Thursday, January 12th from 2-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street, Saint John on Friday January 13th at 12:10 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery and a reception will follow at Brenan's. Remembrances in memory of Rose may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
