So sorry Marlene and family on the passing of your mom. She was a great neighbour and wonderful woman. It won't be the same doing my gardening and using my chainsaw without her keeping an eye on me and sharing my fiddlehead patch with her hugs

Gerry was absolutely the best mother-in-law one could hope for, as well as friend, advisor and confidante. She was a witty and gracious hostess, and I have many special memories of Chance Harbour, especially when the family entertained the Ontario folks who summered in the area. There were so many fun times on the beach - running through the mud flats and stargazing at night. My mouth waters when I recall the delicious potato salad that she always made to accompany those lobster feasts. I really enjoyed x-country skiing with Gerry and our trips to Halifax to visit Marlene. She was a woman of strong faith who lived by her principles, displaying genuine compassion for others. It's obvious from other remarks on this site that she made an indelible impression on everyone whose lives she touched. A live well lived indeed!! Remembered by Cheryl Maguire McMahon, Comox Valley, BC.

My sympathy to all the Abbott family,
I met Gerry in 1976 as I worked in a doctor's office and through Christmas cards kept in touch for years. Your Dad fished out of St. Martins and I live in Fairfield so we could share stories about this neck of the woods. I was not surprised to read her wish is for us to be loving, caring and kind to one another. Gerry was number one as the most loving, caring and kind patient I ever met in my 27 years of doctor office nursing. She will be dearly remembered by so many whose lives she touched.

Marlene & Family: Our deepest sympathy on the loss of such a wonderful woman - a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. From the very first time I met her, many years ago, she made me feel so welcomed into her home and into the Abbott family. She had infectious laugh, wonderful smile and great whit which instantly brought joy and calmness into a room. A woman so well loved, by so many will now live in your hearts and in ours for the rest of our days. Cherish the multitudes of fond memories she's left you all. To the Abbott: I first encountered Gerry during my early years as Associate with SCIC .. She beam of sunshine to all who met her. When you met her you made a great friend.. She always made one comfortable to talk to..In her later years she wasn't much of presence but either was I .. When we last spoke which was 6/ years ago at the Lancaster Mall at the Coffee Mill I think she had one of her grandchildren with her and she asked what I was doing with SCIC I told her I was taking my course in Learn &Go Working For Change and once I finish up with this I was moving onto Power Up for Empowering Women. . She mentioned that she would pray that everything went well.. Gerry you held many hands So the Lord took yours into His and said Come Follow Me. .Now your family will hold onto the many memories you left behind.. Rest Gerry until someday we meet again J.J.
