Belated condolences. We met Charles or “Rob” as he was called, when he was teaching Philosophy at UNBSJ and my husband, Dermot Stewart, was teaching Psychology (1974-82). We became very close friends and spent wonderful times together having dinner and good late night conversations every Fri or Sat night, with Rob and his lovely wife Teri Robertson and their beautiful sons, Niall and Julian. Rob and Teri accompanied us to city hall for our marriage and made a splendid and memorable dinner for us after the ceremony. After we moved to Toronto in 1982, we gradually lost touch but never forgot Rob’s kindness, caring, interest in our lives, his charm and intellectual rapport with Dermot.

I send sincere condolences to the family for their loss. He was a fine human being. As one of his colleagues at UNB, I was fortunate to have benefited from his company for too brief a time.

Stewart-Robertson family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Charles from UNBSJ. I enjoyed his classes a great deal. He was very thought provoking and it was evident how much he enjoyed teaching. He was always available to chat in his office. I started UNB 1975 and was in his class. I only stayed a month before I dropped out. I went back in 1992 and I once again found myself in his class. He was a wonderful teacher and I was a better educated person because of it. Again, my condolescences to you.
