Obituary of Derek Watson McVicar
With heavy hearts, the family of Derek Watson McVicar announce his unexpected passing on Monday, January 30, 2023. Born June 11, 1974 in St. Stephen, NB, he was a son of the late Bernard Watson McVicar and Constance Jean (Cooke) McVicar.
Derek was enlisted with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry until he retired- a way of life he embraced and loved. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, especially deep sea fishing at any opportunity he had, and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his dog, Max and in companionship with his friends and family. He will forever be remembered for brightening a room with his big laugh, bringing a smile to those around him.
Derek is survived by his son, Dawson Hatt; sisters, Kerri McVicar (Damien Gibson) and Amanda McVicar; brother, Terrence McVicar; nephews: Jamal Ali, Rasheed Ali, Jabreel Ali, Zadaja McVicar, Tristan McVicar, and Dustin Godin-McVicar; nieces: Amina Ali, Fatimah Ali, Khadeejah Ali, Kaitlin Compeau, and Ayanna McVicar; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Darian McVicar.
