Obituary of David Daniel Haley, Sr
It is with great sadness that the family of David Haley Sr announces his passing at the age of 65. David lived a full and wonderful life, touched countless lives, and will be remembered as he lived - a man of fun, laughter, and love.
David, or “Big” to the many who loved him, son of Gerry and Francis Haley, was born on April 18, 1957, in Moncton, N.B., and raised in Amherst, N.S. It was there that he met the love of his life, Nancy, and they eventually moved to Saint John, where he worked at the sugar refinery for many years and had two wonderful children. In time, Big’s children became his best friends, and he built a special bond with each of his grandchildren.
Big loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends and had a wide range of interests. He was on several different sports teams, was a coach, enjoyed darts (Adanac) and poker, and visited the Aquatic Centre daily for years. He was very blessed to have had the opportunity to travel extensively with his wife and children by his side. Dave and his family enjoyed many years of camping on the Bonny River, and he loved going to Uncle Bob’s camp in
Nova Scotia. He couldn’t have been happier when gathering around the fire singing along to his favorite songs, playing games and boating.
Big was predeceased by his aunt Jessie Cormier, grandmother Hattie Sears, cousins Stephen and Eric Stewart, RJ Sears and family, and nephew Brent Cadman. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Haley, son Dave Jr (Amanda Pridham), grandson Eric, daughter Angela (Matt London), grandchildren JJ and Madison, best friends Jimmy and Kathleen Dugan, adopted children Kenny Khan, Jennifer Foster (Matt), Mike Dugan (Julie) and their children, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
