I join many others in sending condolences to Claude's family. Our friendship goes back to when we were both defencemen on the UNB Red Devils hockey team. We called him Smiley for obvious reasons. We, his teammates, valued his competitiveness and his ability, but probably more than that we appreciated his quick wit and his ever-present grin. Coincidently, 59 years ago this month we competed in the national university championship tournament in Kingston, Ont. I subsequently collaborated with Claude when he was president of NB Amateur Hockey and later as VP of the 1985 Canada Games. Old friends are the best friends.

I feel so very fortunate to have gotten to come back to NB and spend 2+ incredible weeks with all of my family and my Uncle Claude last September.
We made many wonderful new memories at Yoho and remembering some of the years gone by. He was a rock my whole life at Teanacoil and there are so many incredible memories all woven together from the last 48. One of my favourites was him and I pulling Nannie behind the boat on her 80th and laughing at her (dressed in a wig and googly glasses -that he still had 30 years later!). We laughed so hard that we almost sunk her when we ran into a raft.
Your spirit will always be woven in the land and the lake. So much love Uncle Claude. I hope you are up there smirking at my Auntie BJ now as she belly laughs xoxoxo and you share that pure happiness ♥️♥️♥️

Claude was always so good at keeping in touch by phone each Christmas and in the last couple of years I tried to continue that tradition. His humour, warmth of voice and person, and michievous wit was unparallelled, reminding me of Aunt Mary and Uncle Harold. With Claude's passing goes another link to that generation. His legacy lives on in all who knew and loved him. By good to yourselves and be consoled in knowing he was loved so well. Deepest condolences, Michelle Forrest and Esther Mosher

Claude was certainly one of a kind. Until you got to know him you never knew if he was serious or kidding with you. Everyone in Brentwood knew him as 502. I wonder why that was?
We had many fun times with Claude and Bette at American Water Works Conferences over the years. He and his fellow defenceman Dr. Dick Snow were two hale fellows well met. Whenever you would meet either one of them they would start grinning and the stories would begin. RIP! Claudius!
