Obituary of Donald Hazen Lourie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Hazen Lourie on March 11, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Harold & Louise (nee Johnson) Lourie. Donald was also predeceased by his wife Shirley (nee Snow) Lourie, his brother Raymond Lourie and sister-in-law Barbara (nee Durning) of South Portland, Maine, sister Dorothy Dober of Halifax, NS, and mother-in-law Dorothy (nee Courtney) Irvine.

Survived by brother-in-law Paul Dober of Halifax, NS, several nieces and nephews, special neighbors Norman and Gayle Murphy, and their family. Donnie was cherished by his family and many friends.

Retired as a bus driver from District 8 Schoolboard. Member of UCT, Jack Kidd Council 755; NWTA (Northwest Travelers Association); Base Gagetown Historical Association; Saint John Vocational School Alumni and the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) Perfect Circle Chapter. Donnie liked sports of all kinds, having played basketball in his younger years and later playing softball with the KBM Aces for several years.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 2 pm – 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 11 am from Brenan’s chapel. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery (1650 Manawagonish Rd, Saint John). Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
