Obituary of Mary Margaret Lucy Connell
Heaven just got a lot sweeter. On March 19, 2023, Mary (Bernier) Connell of Walsh Place, a loving wife, and mother passed away at the young age of 62.
Mary was born on August 27th, 1960, to Shirley Marr and the late Joseph Richard.
She attended St. Peters School and graduated from St. Vincent’s High School, here she made many lifelong friends along the way. Throughout her life, she developed a strong faith in God. Her faith carried her through life’s journey. Mary was comfortable knowing she was in the hands of the Lord and was ready to take her next journey.
Mary spent 39 years working as an ECG Technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also worked for SJ Ambulance as a paramedic part-time. She loved both of these positions as she spent her life helping, serving, and caring for others.
Following retirement, Mary spent her time volunteering at Bobby’s Hospice and Meals on Wheels where she continued to serve others and offer her support.
Over the years, Mary was very active in sports including softball, bowling, and golfing. She also enjoyed cheering and encouraging her sons in their activities such as baseball, hockey, and basketball. Mary enjoyed her weekly visits to various Bingos with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband Rick Connell, and her cherished sons Justin Bernier and Michael Bernier (Amanda London). Her grandchildren Hailey and Norman London. Also, her beloved canine baby girl Kiela.
Mary also leaves behind to mourn in her passing, her mother Shirley Richard (Jim Fox), siblings: Carol (Kenny) Cooper, Dianne (George) Buchanan, Wayne (Sharon) Richard, John (Lisa) Richard, Patti Kelly (Neil Morrison) and sister-in-law Kathy Richard and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother-in-law Marjorie Marsten, brothers-in-law Robert Connell and Gary Connell (Brenda), sisters-in-law Joanne Connell, June Stone (Heath) and Heather Marsten. Predeceased by father-in-law Dick Marsten.
Mary was predeceased by her father Joseph Richard Sr, her brother Joseph Richard Jr. and her first husband Michael (Wally) Bernier.
Mary enjoyed and appreciated her long-time friends: Anne Marie Gormley, Kim Lavine, Kim Haines, Barb London, Judy Garnett, Holly Taylor and many more.
Special thank you to Dr. Mackin, Dr. Hemmings, and her long-time family physician Dr. Linda Stephenson. Her Extra Mural nurse Eileen who was so caring, as well as all the other nurses who were so compassionate in our time of need. Mary and her family were always appreciative of the above-and-beyond care you provided. You are truly all angels.
