Obituary of James Joseph LeBlanc

The family of James LeBlanc announce his peaceful passing which occurred on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at his home, Evergreen House - Loch Lomond Villa.  Born in Meteghan, NS on December 28, 1943, he was the son of the late Delia and Alphonse LeBlanc.

James was well known in the Saint John area and brought laughter to many friends over the years.  He enjoyed his time at Cozy Manor where he lived for 22 years.  He then moved to Evergreen House, where he resided for the past nine years.

James loved music and dancing, twirling and break dancing to all styles of music.  His laughter had no bounds and he enjoyed sharing some shocking jokes!  His mind was overflowing with stories to share, and he wrote many letters to Queen Elizabeth, as he was a lifelong fan.  As a young man, he worked at MRA before seeking adventure in Toronto.  He loved women’s fashion and enjoyed his heels, purses and wigs.  He loved gum, wintergreen pink peppermints, dulse, pickled eggs, sardines, lobster, Acadian rapure and blueberry pie.

As James lost his mother young, his cousin Clara Roy and her husband Leo loved and cared for him.  He is survived by his two cousins, Rosemarie Roy and Roxanne Kasdan (Paul) along with other cousins, Oliver, Adrienne and Yelena Kasdan.

James was kind, thoughtful, gentle and always remembered to ask about others.  He would often say “I’m doing the best I can” and he did!

James “Jimmy” “Jamie” LeBlanc the White will be remembered in fondness.

The family wishes to thank Mike Monahan and the staff at Cozy Manor, The Friendship Club, his incredible family of caretakers from the Loch Lomond Villa and his past mental health nurses and social workers.  These people always met James with humour, respect and affection.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where visitation will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM all from Brenan’s Chapel.  Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or to the Canadian Mental Health Association of NB.
