It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald (“Ron”) Nelson who passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, April 23rd, 2023, at the Palliative Care Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital.

Ron was born on August 7th, 1945, in Saint John, NB and was the son of the late Eustace and Isabelle (LeBuffe) Nelson.

Ron was predeceased by his beautiful wife Jane (Kiley) Nelson who he loved dearly and was the light of his life for a remarkable 53 years of marriage and as they would both say a total of 60 years together. His pride and joy were his two daughters (“The Girls”), Kerrileigh Nelson (Stephen Smith) and Krystal Nelson of Rothesay, NB. He was a loving and extremely proud grandfather to his two grandchildren, Elizabeth (“Liz”) Nelson (Olivia Teskey) and Conner Smith of Rothesay, NB.

Ron was the youngest sibling in his family and was predeceased by his sisters Wanita Nelson-Marshall, Dorothy Rimbault, and Muriel Farrer. He is survived by his brothers William (Bill) Nelson, Donald (Donnie) Nelson and his sister Sharon Lister, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron was loved by so many, and family was the most important aspect of his life. We’ll continue to gather and share all the wonderful memories and stories of our time together. “Live, Laugh, Love”.

The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff of the Extra Mural Program for the care they provided. In addition, the family wishes to extend thanks to staff in the Emergency Department and Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
