Obituary of Wanda Gail Sabean
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wanda Sabean announces her passing which occurred Saturday, April 29, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Wanda was born, raised, and lived her life in Saint John, working at the Saint John Regional Hospital for 29 years, where she made many lifelong friendships. Wanda was also a caregiver working for Joan’s Home Care, where she enjoyed helping and caring for many special clients.
The highlight of her life was being Nanny to her 5 beautiful grandchildren who she loved immensely and could never get enough of. Spending summers at the cottages in Fredericton where some of her best times and memories were made.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents Erskine and Dorothy McEwen; sisters Marion, Betty, and Joan; brother in laws Donald Caissie and Freeman Cameron; nephew Freeman Cameron Jr.; and niece Staylina Parlee.
Wanda is Survived by her loving and devoted husband Gary; her three loving children Heather (John), Gary (Stephanie), and Michael (Ciara); as well as her cherished 5 grandchildren Eric, Sean, Colin, Sophie, and Nash. Wanda cherished many special friendships with so many including special friend Barb Colwell, Aunt Jane (Bunny), Ashe as well as her 3 sisters Debbie, Nancy, and Shelly. As well as many loved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Wanda’s amazing medical care team who cared for her through her courageous battle. Dr. Hall, Dr. Comeau, Dr. Burnell, Palliative Care, Dr. Hemmings and a few special nurses who went above and beyond during Wanda’s last days. Extra mural nurse Brandy. Palliative care nurses Jennifer and Roseanne.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12: 00 PM. A Funeral service will take place at 12:30 PM in the Brenan’s Chapel following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wanda’s memory can be made to the Romero House, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
