Obituary of Mary "Betty" Elizabeth LeBlanc

Mary “Betty” Elizabeth (Durling) LeBlanc passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Fundy Nursing Home of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in West Paradise, N.S, she was a daughter of the late Morse and Hazel (Bent) Durling.

In her early years, Betty worked as an X-Ray Technologist in various towns across New Brunswick before becoming a mother. Later in her life she worked to establish herself as a well-respected business-woman owning and managing two successful convenience stores, B & R Snack Bar, and the Carleton Quick Mart.

Betty was very passionate about hockey and baseball and was a big fan for many years.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Lori Anne Bowness (Malcolm) of Halifax, and Jennifer LeBlanc (Darren) of Pennfield; two sons, Eugene (Debbie) LeBlanc of Middle Sackville, and Monti (Shelly) Garner of Richmond, B.C; sister, Wanda McGill of Ontario; grandchildren, Riun, Lance (Laura), Scott (Janelle), Andre, Nicole; great-grandchildren, Antonio, Jack and Theo; as well as four nieces and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lee and Philip; brother-in-law, Charlie; sister-in-law, Audrey.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Fundy Nursing Home.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). The family plans to have a private graveside service in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, N.S, at a later date and requests no flowers or visitation. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
