Lorraine, Brandy and Family please accept our heartfelt condolences at this time. Like so many newlyweds Hodges helped Denise & I into our first home, albeit through the front window. Hodges has been a key influence throughout my career in the navy and life out of uniform. Always providing salient advice while making it seem like it was my idea. My children grew up with loonie’s being magically pulled from behind their ears to their amazement from the ‘Hamm Man’, and they kept them – an early start to their college fund. Now 20 & 22 years old, they both remember fondly the kind man at the Navy that was always so happy to see them. Denise and I have taken Hodges advice some 23 years ago, and never sold our magnificent property in Grand Bay that he brokered for us. I still have a bottle of the HMCS Brunswicker 75th Anniversary wine to share with him as part of our closing arrangement that he always said he would have with us later when things slowed down. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Dear Lorraine, Brandy and family,
The Menard family would like to extend sincerest condolences to you and your family at this very difficult time. My parents are very saddened by his passing as he was a great friend to Helene and Pierre for many many years. For as long as I can remember, Hodges has been a presence in our lives for at least 40 years, helping my family buy and sell property and in the process becoming great friends along the way. His sense of humor was certainly one of his best qualities, but more importantly was his big heart. He had a way of making everyone in his presence feel comfortable and at ease with his "bad" jokes and hearty laugh. I can remember very vividly, whenever he came to our house for the many parties my parents hosted, how he would "take things off the walls and put them on his head to wear for the evening, things like lamp shades etc... My parents would always joke with him to not leave with the furniture, what a hoot he was! He was a unique human being and will be missed by many!

We were so shocked and saddened when heard Hodges passing. We met Hodges the first month we landed Canada and settled down in Saint John. He helped us purchase a commercial building and had taken care of it for over 6 years. He was always helpful, reliable and trustable, which means a lot for us newcomers. Hodges was a true gentleman and very humorous. He will be missed.

I had the good fortune and pleasure to have worked with Hodges at Re/max for several years in the late 80's and early 90's. He was a tireless and highly creative Realtor who I greatly enjoyed being around, always there to help if needed, and from whom I learned much. Having not lived in Saint John for many years now I was able to stop in the see Hodges in his office on a visit a few years back. It was so great to see his smile again,.. still the same uplifting and kind spirit that I knew him to be. He will be missed by all.
My sincerest condolences to his family.

To Lorraine, and Brandy,
Dave and I and the girls are so saddened to hear of Hodges passing. He was always so welcoming and warm. Always the biggest smile and hugs, and of course the best jokester! When my girls were little they were often timid and shy around men but not great uncle Hodges. He would win them over and have them laughing no time! His loss will be felt greatly within the family and the community.
Thinking of all the family at this very difficult time,

In the mid 70's Hodges Hamm approached me as the President of the Quispamsis Recreation Association to sponsor the creation of the #268 R.C.S.C.C. Bras D'or Sea Cadet Corps under the Quispamsis Navy League. They still exist today after almost 50 years thanks to Hodges vision. Thousands of young Sea Cadets over the years have benefited again because of Hodges.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family during these difficult times. Hodges is gone but he will not be forgotten.

It was apparent that Hodges was the jokester of the family who entertained you whenever you met him.

Hodges was very kind and was always willing to silently help someone with a problem.

To Hodges' Family...
I want to tell you how shocked and saddened I was to learn of Hodges' passing.
I will miss his friendship and the many laughs we had over the years.
We all certainly knew whenever Hodges was in the room, he was a larger than life force.
A friend to many, the boys who gather every morning at the Tim's in Millidgeville will absolutely miss him.
Hodges and I started a drone imaging business 5 years ago and we both enjoyed supplying photographs to media outlets, real estate firms and engineering companies.
Hodges often told me that learning to fly drones and take aerial photographs gave him a lot of pleasure.
Whenever I fly from now on I will think fondly of my friend.
Again, my sincere condolences to his family.
Farewell, my friend.......following seas and fair winds.....

Hodges and I developed a mutual respect and friendship over the past decade as we got to know each other through our membership in RUSI- NB and our common NB Naval Memorial volunteer work.
Hodges was a force - a guy with many ideas re how to do something better- and a doer who made things happen. He had a caring personality and a generous heart ; he loved all things Navy and was a proud RCN vet and worked to help vets in need.
He will be missed greatly by many whose lives he touched.

I first came to know Hodges in the early-1970s, when he was a Lieutenant and I a very junior Sea Cadet in RCSCC Rodney. He was a wonderful officer, and a tremendous inspiration to all of us.
After I left Saint John at the end of the decade, we lost contact for a number of years. But we reconnected in 2000 or so, after I moved back to Canada. And ever since, he has been a steadfast friend. We talked about many things over the years - the Navy, of course, but also our common love for history, and our shared concern for New Brunswick’s economic future. We even talked about legal education on more than one occasion!
Lorraine, Brandi and family - please accept my sincerest condolences. Hodges was one of the finest people I’ve ever known, and we’re all poorer for his loss.
In shared sorrow,

Lorraine, Brandy and Family please accept our profound condolences at this time. Hodges has been a presence in my life since I was 12 years old, first through Sea Cadets then on ward from there through my 35-year Naval Career and now into retirement. Hodges was a confidant, mentor, and friend, all with a source of humour mixed in! We shared much interest and energy on supporting the Royal Canadian Navy, HMCS BRUNSWICKER and the newly formed BRUNSWICKER Alumni, which would have not come together without Hodges input and controlling hand. I can assure you he will be thought of often and missed terribly. May you take comfort knowing we share in your loss and strength from our prayers.

Dear Lorraine & Family,
We were shocked and saddened when we learned of Hodges’ passing.
I first met him through our longtime involvement with the Royal United Services Institute of New Brunswick. He served as President in 2004 and 2005, and continued serving on the Board until 2018. Over the years we always kept in touch and shared many good times together over lunches, military dinners, committee meetings, and encounters in our convertibles on sunny days. He never gave up trying to convince me to run for elected office and said he would be my number one fan, no matter which political party I ran for. And he always loved to tease and have a good time. I will certainly miss him.
Hodges made a profound impact on our community and served his country through his time in the Navy.
Elizabeth and I send our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to his wife, Lorraine, and his family, and all who knew and cherished Hodges.
Our caring thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones as you reflect on his life and many contributions to family, country, province, and community.
May your ship sail on peaceful waters as you journey to eternity. Fair winds and calm seas, my friend.
Most sincerely,
Bernie & Elizabeth

When I told him he and his wife were wonderful dancers, he proceeded to tell me how he was a ChipNDale in Florida in the 70’s. He met his wife this way. She gave him a $10 tip.
