Obituary of Bonnie Holmes
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary “Bonnie” Veronica Holmes announces her passing which occurred at her home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Born in Saint John on May 14, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Gerald O’Neill and Hazel Green.
Bonnie loved bowling in her early years at Fairview Lanes on Wednesday and Friday nights. She also enjoyed a good game of cards at St. Joseph’s and St. Annes Church. Over the years she was involved in the North End Little League, Saint John Amateur Speed Skating, New Brunswick Speed Skating Association as well as the Canadian Speed Skating Association.
She leaves behind her children, Wendy Ingraham (Terry), Gerald Holmes (Brenda), Michael Holmes (Veronica), Sharon Daigle (Eric); grandchildren, Chelsea, Andrew, Kati (Matthew), Devin, Mackenzie, Matthew (Kara), Brooke, Jessica (Chris), Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Everett, Cameron, Connor, Tristan, Charlize; sister, Deborah Doukas (Stephen); as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her husband, Donald Holmes; stepfather, John Green; brother, Robert O’Neill.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). With visitation on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Donations in memory of Bonnie may be made to the SPCA of Saint John and Romero House.
