Obituary of Barbara Melvin

Barbara Gail Melvin (nee Barnes), 76, passed away on June 13th, 2023, with her loving daughter Sandra by her side. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on November 25, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Barnes and Margaret Barnes (nee MacVicar).

Barbara dedicated her life to the care of some of our most vulnerable. Employed by Centracare for over 40 years, she cherished her service to the patients and the wonderful friends she made along the way.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Sandra Melvin and daughter Audrey (Warren) Justason, her sisters Judith Baxter (Glen) and Patsy McDougall (David), her grandson Roddie Justason, grandchildren Dudley, Elizabeth, Stanley and Daisy. Her best friend of over 60 years, Nancy McCaffery, as well as her extended family, including her beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life husband David, her parents Margaret and Arthur Barnes and her sister Carole Dixon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB (506-634-7424). A Funeral service will take place at Brenan’s Chapel on June 19, 2023, at 2:00pm followed by interment in Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John.
