I met Mike at the Washington District Camporee. We were checking in
Scouts. He impressed me with his knowledge of Scouting. More so it seemed that he knew all the leaders from both sides of the river. Like a lot of us he didn't recognize the border between Canada and US. In my early years in Scouting he was a mentor to me. Mike would show up to every planning for the Camporee. He almost always needed a place to stay so I brought him home. Then I take him to St Stephen to catch the bus back home. After a while we would drive him to St John's.
Mike always wanted me to work Camporees on his side of the the river. Being a Amateur Radio operator I would set up the K1BSA/VE9 station and let the Scouts contact stations all over North America. I almost got arrested because I use a sling shot to put a line up into the trees so I could put up a horizontal antenna. Mike talked the ranger out of arresting me seen as far I came and it was the only way I could put up an antenna and not breaking limes on two trees.
Mike was a good friend to all on this side of the river. He will be missed and I'm sure Mike is helping the Scout Master of us all out.

Our Scouting Family was not complete without Mike Bonvie. He was part of our 1st. Ketepec Scouting. Mike worked with all the Staff from Wolastook Area with Night Hawks and Night Owls. He was very gifted in painting all the Crests for both,
Mike will be missed and we send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

My Dad,Maxie, spoke of Mike often and always with fondness. Mike used to send me the Casket. He must have felt sorry for me so far away from home. I’m sorry we lost touch. He was a very kind man.
