Obituary of Thelma Christina Carpenter
It is with great sadness that the family of Thelma Christina Carpenter announces her passing on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Kennebec Manor with her family by her side. Born in Saint John, NB on January 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Ellen (Beaudry) Anderson.
Thelma retired from the City of Saint John, she also worked for Metro Construction and Atlantic Pest Control. Being an avid Bingo player, she worked at Exhibition Park for over 50 years with the horse races and running the Bingo. Thelma enjoyed volunteering at Kennebec Manor and the Seniors Tea for the City of Saint John.
Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Darlene Winchester (Gary Denton), of Saint John, Debra Ratcliffe (Barry) of Quispamsis, Daphne DeBouver (Rick) of Coldbrook, NS and Dawn Burley (Harry) of Saint John; grandchildren, Adam Winchester (Sabrina), Amy Brothers (Joe), Mark McIntyre (Elaine), Craig McIntyre (Cassandra), Jillian McIntyre, Kelly Pearl (Matt) and Ryan DeBouver (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Walker, Heidi, Kinley, Robbie, Joshua, Riley, Connor, Leigha, Abby, Victoriah, Chasten, Jaeda, Carsen, Cohen, Deni and Aniston; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband Murray Harold Carpenter of 64 years, her daughter Dianne Lynn Carpenter, and siblings Boyd Anderson and Rosemary Farnell.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 5 - 8 pm. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 11:00 am in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Thelma’s memory can be made to Kennebec Manor, the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice. www.BrenansFH.com.
