I started my surgical career with Gerry Always interesting! I spent 40 years working with him on and off in the OR.He was a great technical surgeon. For the last 20 years we planned a spring salmon fishing trip Gerry, Judy and assorted others! A rite of spring I’ll miss ! Rest in peace Gerry & Judy together again.

He was a stern teacher, and a force to be reckoned with… and was my first “favourite and #1” for quite some time. I owe a lot of my love of OR nursing to him. Rest easy Dr. Stiles.

Gerry curled for years with my father and myself. We won a few Club Championships at Riverside back in the 1980’s. I remember him as a gentle man but a fierce competitor. I could see why he was a great surgeon by the concentration he had when throwing a curling stone. Please accept my heartfelt condolences at your loss

It’s truly hard to describe the friendship that developed between Dan, myself, Merry and Judi! I guess you could say it’s all Murphy fault! Dan and I enjoyed many hours of conversations, laughs and riding lessons with Judi. Jerry happily joined in whenever he was invited because he knew how important Murphy was to Judi. After her passing, I was able to visit Jerry at his home and in the hospital. Every visit included Judi stories, often and almost always involving tears. I truly admired the love Jerry had for Judi. He missed her everyday and there was nothing you could say or do to change that. Knowing and loving them both was life changing for both Dan and myself. My heart is now happy knowing they are together again. Murphy will always be the most important horse here at Northrup Quarter Horses. Anything to put a smile on Judi and Jerry’s face. I worked for him from 2008 to 2019 when he finally really retired, we swapped recipes as I also loved to cook. Judi was always giving his bon appetite magazines when he was done with them. I visited him after Judi’s passing and he was really heart broken. I always thought greatly of them and will miss them both. Now they have been reunited and in peace.

My condolences to family & friends in your loss. Grumpy & quick tempered Dr. Gerry Stiles was an excellent & respected surgeon. As I write I am smiling at some hilarious & some not so hilarious occurrences in the Pacemaker room...the latter we settled amiably. An avid salmon fisherman he sure knew how to hook those pacemaker leads in the correct place ! Rest easy Dr Stiles

I called him the Ger-Bear and he called me trouble. As a charge nurse in the ICU he was never more than a call away, he might swear but God he was an awesome doctor and when you got past that gruff exterior there was a man who loved with all of his heart. He told me that he had 3 loves in his life and in this order: Judy, surgery and fishing……..then he told me if he added a fourth it would be me since I was like the annoying daughter he never had!! I called him to look at my mothers chest X-ray and he hugged me( yes really) and said I will put that dam tumor in the garbage can bring her into the OR Friday. She lived another 12 years. I will miss you my friend but I know how broken hearted the last two decades have been. I am hoping you are in the Hawaiian version of heaven.
