Obituary of William Harold Bursey
It is with heavy hearts that the family of William ‘Harold’ Bursey announces his passing which occurred in the early hours of September 24, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on May 14, 1939, Harold was the son of the late William and Gladys Bursey.
He worked with the City of Saint John fire department for 39 years, retiring as Captain in 1994. Harold was known to many as “Mr. Fix it” as he was a man that could fix anything and everything, for anyone, anywhere. When he wasn’t fixing the broken object of the day, Harold could be found tinkering away in his garage. He was a proud member of the Fusilier’s Club, The Main Brace and the Adanac Club.
While Harold remained a busy man throughout the spring, summer and fall, at the first sight of snow fall, in previous years he would pack his bags and head for somewhere warmer to rest up during the winter, usually Largo, Florida.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Cheryl McQuinn (Walter) and Carolyn Burns (Mike); sons, Jim Bursey (Helene) and Greg Bursey (Kathy); grandchildren; Jaime Levesque (Dan), Jocelyn Bursey (Will), Alex McQuinn (Jenn), Scott McQuinn, Stacie Tremblay (Clay), Matt Bursey (Whitney), Kayley Burns (Adam), and Andrew Burns (Kristen); 11 great - grandchildren; niece Fay Ekstrom; and his companion and best friend Audrey Veinot. Harold is also survived by the mother of his children, Helene Bursey.
