Obituary of Heather Anne Grant
With heavy hearts and appreciation for the time they had together, the family of Heather Anne (Eldridge) Grant announce her passing on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March 12, 1958, in St. Stephen, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Helen Melissa (Hawkins) Eldridge.
Heather cherished her family with her entire heart and was a proud mother and grandmother. She was a nurse for 32 years, most years at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she had a beautiful career caring for the elderly. She was married to Dean Grant for 26 years, and they made many memories with their children, travelling and camping in their camper. In her retirement, she enjoyed boating. Heather also loved knitting, and was devoted to her mother’s care in her final years.
Heather is survived by her children: Melissa Sutherland (Shawn Sabourin), Jason Grant, and Lindsay Fairbrother (Kevin); the father of her children, Dean Grant; grandchildren: Owen Sutherland, Madalynn Sutherland, Jack Sabourin, Liam Grant, Kevin Charles Fairbrother, and Anna Fairbrother; siblings: Sally Brown (Jack), Dawn Downs (Kevin), and Herbie Eldridge (Cynthia); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 2 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 am from Brenan’s Chapel, with interment and reception to follow at Pennfield Presbyterian Kirk. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
