Obituary of C. Irvine Robertson
Robertson: C. Irvine
It is with heavy hearts that the family of C. Irvine Robertson announce his passing on Friday, October 13th, 2023. Irvine was born on January 1st, 1940, to Charlie and Dorothy (nee Appleby) Robertson. Irvine will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years Sue, son John (Kathy), daughter Marilen (Paul Potter), son Brent (Kim), grandchildren Daniel, Andrew, Mackenzie Potter, Zach and Zoe (Kiefer), great grandchildren Hank and Bruce, along with brother-in-law John and his wife Lori Roberts, niece Jennifer (Craig), and nephew Chris Roberts.
After graduating from SJHS in 1958 Irvine went on to getting his CPA. He started his career working at the BNS and then finally moving to WorkSafe NB as a Claims Officer and finally retiring from there as an Internal Claims Auditor.
In his early years Irvine enjoyed spending his time at Field “Bird Dog” Trials with his beloved dog Jenny. When moving to Norton Irvine took up his passion for gardening. He loved sharing his extra produce with family and friends.
Irvine also liked to spend time with all his grandchildren, whether it be going to all their activities, or just making memories that they will treasure always.
Irvine also dedicated his time to Westfield United Church on the Finance and Maintenance Committee, as a Trustee, and a Scout Leader. In later years he served on the Board at the Kingston Farmers Market.
When he finally did sit down to relax you could always find him doing crossword or sudoku puzzles, going fishing, or spending time with his friends’ creating memories.
His family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care during his final days. We will be forever grateful.
We will all miss Irv’s dry sense of humour and his ability to make you guess if he was telling you the truth.
Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Thursday, October 19th, 2023, from 3pm to 7pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Road, Grand Bay-Westfield, on Friday, October 20th, 2023, at 2pm. Private interment in Long Reach United Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irv’s memory may be made to the Westfield United Church, Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.BrenansFH.com.
