Obituary of Madonna Florence Hatty
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving sister/aunt Madonna which occurred peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on October 21, 2023, at the age of 64 years old.
Born in Saint John, NB on December 23, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Geraldine (Dugan) Hatty.
Madonna is survived by her siblings: Norma Allison, Richard Hatty (Pauline), Suzanne Hubley (Roy), Coleen Tait (Clifford), and Gary Hatty (Aaron); nephews: Glen, Rick, Grant, Mark, Aaron, Neil, Nicholas, Trevor, and Tyson; nieces: Tammy, Patricia, and Cole; and several great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as her brother-in-law George Kantor.
Madonna is predeceased by her two sisters, Kathleen Kantor and Ann Marie Hatty.
Madonna loved time with her family, playing cards, games, pajamas party weekends, laughing, shopping, cooking, eating, family BBQs, family yard sales, Christmas gatherings and also spending time with her fur babies: Mickey, Miss Mew and Ripley, which have all crossed over the rainbow bridge.
Madonna worked at Saint John News Company Limited for 15 years, then went on to further her education at NBCC and started her career at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (formerly HFS) and enjoyed her many roles with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for the past 26 years. At Wyndham she made many good friends, volunteering for Big Bike and several other volunteer community events with Wyndham. Madonna has left a lasting impression on all who knew her and her beautiful, generous heart. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
The family would like to thank all her loving friends for all the support, phone calls, prayers and kindness and those who also came to visit her at the house and hospital.
The family would also like to say thank you to all he doctors, nurses and support staff of the Oncology Unit, Extra Mural and Palliative Care for the support and kindness shown to Madonna and our family during this very difficult time. Special thank you to Shelli, Nurse Christa, PSW Christa, and Social Worker Clara.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). At Madonna’s request there will not be any visitation. However, there will be a funeral service on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11 am. A private burial will be held after the reception for family only.
