Obituary of Edith Cavell Caroline Wyers

WYERS, Edith Cavell Caroline

1934 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Edith Wyers announce her passing which occurred on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Edith was born on March 2, 1934, in Campbellton, New Brunswick to the late Edward and Lillian Demeau.

Edith will be immensely missed by her children Baden (Barb) Wyers, Marion McNamee, Sally (Raymond) Wyers, son-in-law Lindsey Searle; grandchildren Mark (Diana) Searle, Lisa (Phil) Leblanc, Jillian (Josh) Haslett, Courtenay (Jason) MacDonald, Morgan (Jeffrey) O’Donnell, Colin (Kendra) MacDonald, Crystal (Barry) Herrington, Karen (Terry) Somerville; and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly reunited with her husband Baden of 58 years, daughter Faith Searle, and great-grandson Myles O’Donnell.

Mum was very talented in everything she touched especially gardening, sewing, knitting, and baking.  Later in life she enjoyed Bingo and making puzzles. She loved to spend her summers at the family homestead in Kedgwick River where the grandchildren went to go fishing, picking berries, making homemade jam, and above all getting spoiled. She spent her working days at Centracare as an Occupational Therapist Assistant up until her retirement.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Chris O’Brien, the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit and especially Nurse Carolyn Ramsay for their exceptional care of our mother.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan’s on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
