Obituary of Robert Cecil McCoy
With heavy hearts, the family of Bob McCoy announces his peaceful passing, which occurred on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Kennebec Manor Nursing Home. Born April 27, 1937, in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Edgar and Laura (Gibbons) McCoy.
Bob is survived by his cherished daughters: Heather Melanson, Nancy Fraser (Terry), and Sherry Turrett (Hector); grandchildren: Colton Melanson, Brandon Fraser, Chantelle Fraser, and Samantha Turrett (Keith); sisters, Joan Hughes and Sandra Grey; sisters-in-law, Joan Richard (Guy) and Emily McCoy; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy (Bartlett); brothers: Larry McCoy, Gerry McCoy, and Carl Sweetser; and his sister, Donna Leard.
Bob worked for Barbour’s and TBA (Thorne’s) before retiring from the maintenance department at Sears. He enjoyed the simple things in life: playing horseshoes, listening to country and western music, and playing cards with his family. He also took care of the family pets over the years, of which there were many.
The family are grateful to the staff of Kennebec Manor for the care and compassion shown to Bob during the past couple of years. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
