Obituary of Olga Britt
Olga Britt (née Wowchuk)
1933 - 2024
In her 91st year, Olga Britt (née Wowchuk), wife of the late Dr. Danny Britt, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 28, 2024.
Born in Montreal on May 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Nosata) Wowchuk.
Generous and kind, Olga was loved by all who knew her. She was an avid gardener, a talented artist, a gourmet cook, and a gracious host.
Her family was her greatest pride and joy. Mom was a loving Bobbi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will all cherish the memories of her love for us, her laughter, her warm beautiful smile, and her positive outlook on life.
Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Olga is survived by her five children: Valerie Britt (Charles), Lorrie Zed (Michael), Sharon Laidlaw (John), Geoffrey Britt (Denise) and Danna Sanford (Greg); 18 grandchildren: Sean (Lacey), Katelyn (Nathan), Jill (Danielle), Jennifer (James), Laura (Nick), Alex (Ryan), Stephanie (David), Brian (Danielle), Eric (Brett), Olivia (Léo), Adrienne (Jonathan), Daniel (Sofia), Liam, Rory, Conor, Lauren (Justin), Britt (Katie) and Rachel; and 12 great-grandchildren: Grey, Emmett, Finley, Niamh, Liam, Ben, Lucie, Nora, Ruby, Ella, Jack and Lachlan. She is also survived by her sister Alyse Quarless, and her brother Dr. Jerry Wowchuk (Marlene), and many nieces and nephews. Also mourning her loss are brother-in-law Gerald (Mary), sister-in-law Anne, as well as surviving spouses Bonnie, Marjorie, and Ellen Britt.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Stanislas Paulin at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rothesay on Saturday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial ceremony will take place at a later date.
We are grateful to Dr. Sean Dolan, Dr. Alfonso Rivera, Dr. Christian Mackin, Dr. Paul Vanhoutte, and the staff of Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their excellent care.
For those who wish, donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Saint John or a charity of the donor’s choice.
