Dear sweet Darla. She always had time for a smile, a joke, a story about her cats and sometimes to just walk the pedway with me. She was the joy in my morning on my way to work. The pedway was never so well looked after as when she was on the job. I will truly miss her beautiful smile and cherish the memories of time spent with her.

Darla is someone I would always give a cordial ‘hi’ to as I made my way back and forth between the Mercantile and the Aquatic Centre. She was a very warm presence and clearly took pride in the work that she did. I know that she will be missed by many.

Darla was always kind to me and always had a smile to offer! I never saw her in a bad mood and she was such a hard worker! I'm so happy I had the chance to see her at Christmas and capture one more large smile. She will be sadly missed and my only hope is she is surrounded by her family with warm hugs and greetings in the hereafter. Truly Trish ~ forever a close family friend

Wanted to thank everyone for the kind words for Darla. She was always a very kind and gentle person ( even when she was Darryl) . Of course there were always a few little brotherly scraps amongst the 4 of us growing up that Darrly would win most of.
Darla was a strong willed person who unfortunately had more downs than ups in her life, but she managed to keep her head up high. She took great pride in all of her working jobs over her lifetime , as well as the jobs she help me do during the summer. Yes, most of her jokes were either old, crude or not very funny, but she tried to have a connection or make a smile.
I want to say a special thanks to her roommates Carrie and Rob, who took her in and had been good friends who watched out for her.
Terry Hayes , proud brother to sister Darla ❤️

I first met Darla as Daryl a couple of years ago, I helped him come out as she had told me about her thoughts and desire to come out as a women and be trans I had helped her as we were neighbors enjoyed drinks together outside my front door or I'd go to her place and try new makeup on her and do her hair from then on she started doing it on her own and was so proud, and was.so much happier as being Darla, I will keep these memories close.
Sorry to the family and friends that got to know Daryl and Darla

I will miss seeing her around the Mercantile. She was always kind to everyone and she had such a good soul. My walks to Tim's won't be the same...I would always smile when I would walk through the pedway and hear dance music and know that it was Darla, cleaning with a smile. Many of us at the Mercantile will miss her... she certainly touched many of our hearts. Condolences to her family and friends. RIP Darla

So sad to hear of Darla's passing. We had lost touch several years ago. I often thought about her and how she was doing. We used to hang out regularly in our younger years around the St.Peters ball park enjoying a cold Colt 45 and a smoke. You will be missed Darla. Thank you for the good times. - Scott

Darla worked in our offices at Ropewalk Road for several years and she was always sweet and kind. I always admired her ability to fix little mechanical things, even with long sparkly fingernails. It makes me so so sad to know she is gone and my condolences are with her family.
