Obituary of Tim Hickey
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Timothy Leroy Hickey announces his passing on February 8, 2024. Tim was born on May 2, 1962 in Harvey Station, NB to James Mitchell (Mike), and Alice Lorraine (Messer) Hickey. He married the love of his life Susan Hickey (Brennan) on October 2, 1982 and they lived a large portion of their married life in the Saint John Area.
Tim was a dedicated family man, who spent all the time he could with his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He could always be counted on to lend a hand, an ear or some words of wisdom. He was a talented guitar player and those that loved him best will forever remember him playing and singing at the camp.
Tim had many hobbies that kept him busy throughout the years. When his children were young, he would spend countless hours driving them to and from different sports and activities and as his grandchildren came along, he could be counted on to be cheering them on in whatever they chose to do. He spent his summers on Palfrey Lake, teaching his children and later his grandchildren how to fish and he spent the fall at the hunting camp teaching the next generation how it was done. His winters were spent snowmobiling with his wife and their beloved friends.
A stoic and humble man, Tim was the strong and silent type until you got through the tough exterior. He was funny, charming, and above all, kind. He was always the first to lend a hand or offer advice that you didn’t know you needed until it was given. Tim loved to laugh and was unfailingly supportive of those around him. He was strong, brave and he fought a long battle with grace and dignity.
Tim is survived by his loving children, Jordy (Hailey) Hickey and Julie (Justin) Sullivan and his four adoring grandchildren, Lauren, Timothy, Mitchell and Ellie. He is also survived by his three sisters, Vaunna Frenette, Eleanor (Frank) Carroll and Judy (Stephen) McIntyre; his sister-in-law, Laurel Hickey; his mother-in-law, Ellen Brennan and many special nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Susan Hickey. He was also predeceased by his father, James Mitchell (Mike) Hickey; his mother, Alice Lorraine (Messer) Hickey; his brother, Rodney Hickey and his brother-in-law, Al Frenette.
A public visitation will occur on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) from 4-8pm. A funeral will be conducted in the chapel at Brenan’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society.
