Obituary of David Gregory Wilson

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave on February 15, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on the straight shore to Rita (King) and George "Pete" Wilson, Dave spent the majority of his life in Saint John, NB.

David was the second last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by his brothers Jimmy, Donny, Jackie, and Peter. The last surviving member is his only sister, Adelaide Rodgerson, affectionately known as Bones.

Known as "the stud" by those close to him, Dave lived life on his own terms. His easy smile was contagious, always brightening the room and making those around him feel at ease. He had a generous spirit and always had a piece of gum to share. Dave took pleasure in the simple joys of life and especially enjoyed a good cold beer. In his later years, that love turned to chocolate shakes from the Dairy Queen!

Hardworking and humble, David spent the majority of his life as a machinist at Simms Brush factory until his well-earned retirement. Family held a special place in his heart, particularly his grandchildren, Allison and Dan, whom he cherished deeply.

David found solace by the water, spending many of his younger years rowing in the harbour and later, enjoying time with his family on Long Island in the Kennebecasis River. His love for life, quick wit and genuine kindness will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). At Dave's request, there will not be a service or visitation, but you can honour him the next time you are enjoying a cold beer, raise a glass in Dave's honour and remember the joy he brought to our lives. May he rest in peace. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
