Obituary of Carol Miriam Clark

Carol Miriam (Cunningham) Clark
November 11, 1952 - March 1, 2024

It is with much love and heavy hearts that the family of Carol Clark announce her peaceful passing at Loch Lomond Village on March 1, 2024.
Born, on November 11, 1952, to the late Stanley & Faith (Stewart) Cunningham of Saint John. 

She is survived by her Husband Hup Clark (Her Rock!): Daughters; Krista Caissie (Don), Julie Clark (Asad): Hup's Sons; Tim Clark (Jill), Peter Clark (Stephanie): Grandchildren; Hannah, Willam, Leia and Campbell: brother-in-law; Dave Clark (Terry): brother Paul Cunningham: and special cousin John Cunningham (Mary).

Carol spent her early life in Dominion Park at the beach and wandering the woods of Greenhead with her friends (who became family) and little brother Paul. The neighborhood and all the characters who played a part in her life during that time held a special place in her heart. She graduated from Saint John High School (1970); and Modern Business College (1971); and worked her way through UNB French, part-time, while juggling the demands of a young family, to become bilingual.

She went on after college to work at McKelvey, MacAulay, Fairweather (1974); Sears - Paint, Hardware & Home Improvement Departments (1981-1991);  Fundy Cable Group of Companies (1991-1999);  Atlantic Health Sciences - Executive Assistant (1999-2009); and Horizon Health - Physician Recruitment (2009-2017). She taught Lamaze classes in the 80's, sat on the board of Communities in Bloom in the mid-90s, and was an active Member of the RKYC for nearly 20 years.

She started her family in North End Saint John, spent some time living in Millerton and Public Landing, and returned to East Saint John in 1989. Eventually, she settled into Millidgeville with Hup for the better part of 20 years. After battling the effects of MS for close to 10 years, she needed more care than could be provided at home. In the short span of 3 years, she spent a very short time in the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Church of St John St Stephen Nursing home, and her final year in Loch Lomond Village in Dogwood and Maple House.

Carol loved to meet and help people. No matter where she lived or worked she made at least a contact or two who she kept in touch with over the years and never forgot their story.  She had a knack for connecting people with resources and contacts to meet their goals or solve a problem. 

If you spent 20 minutes with Carol she would know where you’ve been, where you’re going, and have some suggestions for how to get there. 

Carol's family would like to thank the many, many people who helped care for her during the course of her illness. Whether you provided companionship, moral support, professional services, or worked/lived in one of the nursing homes she lived in; you contributed to her quality of life, you provided relief to her family and we are forever grateful for all of you.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, with a celebration of Carol's life to follow at 2:30. Interment in Fernhill will take place at a later date. For those who are unable to attend the funeral service, please feel free to join the family via livestream.
