I received a call from a good friend in Saint John who told me that your Mother had passed away. It was a sad moment for me as it quickly took me back to our childhood days when Harold, Nancy and all you "kids" would come out to our farm in Barnesville. Growing up in the city, you thought this was wonderful - helping to feed the animals, riding in the back of the truck, playing in the brook and the list goes on. Your parents and mine would have a very enjoyable time together and were very close friends.
My thrill was going to your house on Lowell St. - riding a bicycle on a paved sidewalk was beyond exciting - so smooth. Your Mom and Dad were always extremely hospitable. So many delicious meals prepared by your mother. She was always so friendly and as I read in the obituary she was involved in many charitable endeavours and of course her all time love was bowling. The last time I saw your Mom was in 2014 when she came to the Regional Hospital to visit a friend and also dropped in to see Dad. He was so pleased to have a visit with her. He passed away a couple of weeks later. All four have now gone to their eternal home where they again will meet. May God bless and comfort you all during this difficult time.

I remember,so vividly, growing up in the old church at the foot of Garden street,St.John,St.Stehen,Presbyterian,and to me Mr Floyd, was so very very handsome, dark, with gorgeous eyes, and to me Marcia, was the picture of him,Mrs,Floyd, was, and still looks beautiful,in this picture, and Vicki, was always, beautiful, looking identical to her Mum.Vicki was my very best friend at church,Sunday School, and Choir, and choir practice,I couldn’t wait to be with her,and we had so much fun, that, the choir director, was always trying to separate us…..it was for me,such an important friendship, though,we didn’t see each other, outside of the church. She lived,in Saint John West, and that was like going to China,in my day…..I think,we shared Christmas pageants together,in the early years, and I think, classes for our first communion,,,,it was the joy for me going to that church, and Vicki and I,,,,were like magnets,,,,,,together. It still, brings me joy, just thinking about her.Much later in my life,I came into contact, with a couple of great guys, friends of my husbands, who informed me,they had both been madly in love, with my adorable childhood friend,Vicki Floyd! Still,to this very day,I think of her father, and mother, and how truly lov they were,to all the children, and later I remember Vicki’s Mum,Nancy in the senior choir.Of,course looking back, now,I’m touched by all the memories from the church, and how it shaped me,,,,as a person, greatful! There were other friends, from that era,but no one to me had the magic, that Vicki and I,seemed to shared……in that important time of shaping our young lives,I’ve always missed not staying in touch with Vicki, though I know she was called me as an adult, when she was across the street from my home, but I was not home…..May the memories,of this wonderful Mother, and Grandmother,Bless you all,and help with your sadness,of this great loss….sending Blessings, and Love,Heather, and Terry Reed.

I am so touched by this tribute! Thank you Heather for taking the time to tell this story about our friendship! They were wonderful days. Our daughter is named Heather. ( coincidence?, maybe not!) You can read her posting …..she loved her Gram! As we all did. Mum was an exceptional person. Loving and loved by all.
You really made me smile…and chuckle!

My memories of Gram - Over a cup of tea or ball of yarn I would love to talk to my Gram about spiritual matters. I felt completely at peace during those talks and I will miss that part so much. We also had some great laughs - oh she loved to tease! One year I made a quilted runner for my mother in law and to my horror I realized after gifting it that it bore an offensive design (an oversight!). Gram found the story quite amusing and the next summer she brought an article to me the next summer about someone who had done the same thing but in a full queen sized quilt. I will miss the laughs, the hugs, the tea and all things Gram.

So saddened to hear of Nancy’s passing. She was a fun loving, caring, smart, witty and very craftsy woman. My fondest memories are playing horseshoes and sitting around the campfire at the Washdamoek. Our thoughts and prayers to all the family. Rest in peace Nancy.
