Obituary of John T. Donkin
With broken hearts, the family of John Donkin, loving partner of Lynda (Griffin) Theriault, announce his unexpected passing on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 29, 1960, in Saint John, he was a son of the late John “Jack” and Phyllis Marie (Maher) Donkin.
John was a proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served in Cypress in the early 90s. He had a heart of gold, and was a fantastic softball player, playing the position of pitcher, and he even pitched a game against The King & His Court, a famous travelling softball team. John was also a huge Habs and Red Sox fan.
In addition to his beloved partner, Lynda, John is survived by his children: Kayla, Mandy (Sean), and Johnny, all of Victoria, BC; grandchildren: Madison, Caleb, Leo, and Oliver; siblings: Gary Maher, Tammy Hogan (Kevin), Phillip “Butch” Donkin (Shelly), Suzanne Donkin, and Jeff Donkin; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Summer; and cats, Smokey and Luna. He was predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the many First Responders and the staff of the Emergency Department for their care and dedication. Your kindness will not soon be forgotten.
