Obituary of Brian Keith McHugh

It is with broken hearts that the family of Brian Keith McHugh announce his unexpected passing on April 16, 2024. Born in Saint John, NB, on November 30, 1966, he was the son of the late Norman and Mary (Connell) McHugh.

Brian will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his siblings Norman (Georgette) McHugh, Brenda (Robert) Bonner, Nancy (Larry) Steele, Kathleen McHugh; his aunt Donna Blanchard; brother-in-law, Frank Green; former wife Kathryn Hill; stepson Brandon Hill, his furry friend, Karma as well as his cousins, and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his oldest sister, Suzanne Green.

Brian graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1983 at the top of his class. He worked for Irving for many years until his adventures took him out west where he found his passion for mission work, serving as a mentor and friend to those in need. Brian loved sports, particularly baseball and had the opportunity to both play and coach. He was a big fan of the Boston Bruins and enjoyed working on various projects at home. Brian danced through life to the rhythm of country music and touched the hearts of many with his kindness. He cherished family gatherings, camping trips, and evenings spent around a campfire.

We will miss Brian’s sense of humour, his big smile, and warm hugs.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. There will be no public visitation as per Brian’s wishes. The family asks that any donations in Brian’s memory be made to charities that were close to his heart such as the SPCA, The Salvation Army or Outflow Ministry.
